Volunteer FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How old do you have to be to volunteer?

Ages 12-15 with a guardian. 16+ without a guardian.

Can I just show up to volunteer?

No. Volunteers must apply online and review our handbook prior to scheduling orientation to become a volunteer. Volunteer orientation and positions are planned based on current need. Students must fill out a separate application to schedule their service hours.

My company would like to volunteer as a group. How do we sign up?

Contact the Volunteer Coordinator directly for details and availability-gkunkle@northshorefoodbank.org.

What if my child is too young to volunteer? How can he/she help?

Food drives a great way for a child to help! They can organize a school, club, or neighborhood drive and we are happy to provide bags. A neighborhood coat drive as the weather gets cooler is also a great way to ensure we have free coats available in January for our Coats for the Cold program.
