Growing to Better Serve St. Tammany Parish.
As grocery costs continue to rise, more families on the Northshore are turning to Northshore Food Bank for support. For households who are forced to make difficult financial decisions, knowing there is food in the pantry can reduce stress and help make tight budgets feel a little more manageable. Nearly 40,000 people in St. Tammany Parish are expected to experience food insecurity this year alone, making food support more important than ever.
As the largest independent food bank in St. Tammany Parish, Northshore Food Bank continuously evaluates how we can best meet the needs of our community. To better serve local families, we recently expanded our income eligibility guidelines for food distribution programs to 200% of the federal poverty level. In simple terms, this means more working households in our parish may now qualify for assistance.
Northshore Food Bank has also enhanced our Staple & Lagniappe Boxes to provide a more balanced mix of pantry staples and fresh foods. Each distribution includes pantry essentials paired with items such as fresh produce, protein, and dairy to help families better plan meals and make food go further throughout the month.
