At Chevron, we believe in contributing to the communities where we work and live. Over more than a decade, we’ve seen first-hand how our support of the Northshore Food Bank (NSFB) improves food access for citizens across the region. In fact, Chevron’s funding of the NSFB helps provide food to more than 300 families from St. Tammany Parish each week.
When natural disasters like as Hurricane Ida and the Covington floods created an even greater need, Chevron and the Northshore Food Bank expanded our partnership. In the wake of the storms, we purchased thousands of pounds of fresh produce, provided school supplies for children in participant families, and contributed conveyor equipment to increase safety and efficiency in their warehouse. Most recently, Chevron also began funding the fuel and maintenance costs of the NSFB’s truck, which collects and distributes essential food products throughout the year. Chevron also encourages our employees to become personally involved in charitable organizations like the Northshore Food Bank. Our company is dedicated to promoting volunteerism by giving our workforce time away from the office so they can roll up their sleeves and lend a hand. From inspecting, stocking, and sorting food, to hosting donation drives, to loading cars and distributing food, to working at the resale shop, our employees have helped make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors in need.
“For years, Chevron has been proud to partner with the Northshore Food Bank,” said Leah Brown, Public Affairs Manager of Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico Business Unit. “We’re inspired by the positive impact their team has had on the community. As a result of their efforts, local children receive the nutrition they need and are better prepared to learn, grow and thrive. This is the foundation for healthy families and strong communities. Chevron is extremely humbled to work hand-in-hand with the Northshore Food Bank and continue to address the critical issue of hunger. We encourage local citizens and companies to support them as well.”
