Just this week, Ms. Linda came to Northshore Food Bank to recertify her eligibility for another year. She started coming to the Food Bank 5 years ago when her 54-year-old husband suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. She depended on him for everything and she was now penniless. Her family was close and she knew they would welcome stepping up to help her. They all loved her husband dearly - she recalled family gatherings of him doing barbeques and swim parties. But she didn't want to lean on them. And she cannot work because she does need 2 knee replacements. So she decided to visit Northshore Food Bank for assistance. Ms. Linda says that the supplemental food she receives from NFB each month is such a tremendous help. There's still not much left at the end of the month, but all her needs are met.
