Mr. Artie is one of our clients who felt compelled to lend a helping hand to the organization that has helped him in so many ways. Below is his story:
“I came here to Louisiana from Wisconsin in 1999. So my mom and I live together to try to make ends meet. I lost my job I think two years ago now and food stamps just don’t cut it. Northshore Food Bank has been a tremendous help in supplementing what we need. And even at Thanksgiving we were able to get a complete turkey dinner with all the trimmings. That made Thanksgiving really nice for us. But then I noticed all the other people the Food Bank is helping too, not just me. And how they’re helping others actually survive. So I decided I wanted to help people too. So now I’m helping at the Food Bank by volunteering. I ride the truck and help pick up donations and sometimes I help in the Thrift Store too. Its really great to see the large amount of donations that the community donates. It really feels good to see that and to be a part of that.”
